We are expecting a heavy southerly swell for the Southern Cook Islands, increasing tonight (Monday) and continuing throughout Tuesday. The southern coast of Rarotonga between Kavera and Tikioki can expect:
    • Potentially dangerous conditions for lagoon recreational activities including strong currents and surges
    • Higher than usual lagoon level and wave runup on beaches
    • Potential for debris to wash onto coastal areas and road
Beachfront property owners and tourism operators in this area should remain aware of conditions, use additional caution or avoid lagoon activities, keep a close watch on beach equipment, and be prepared to take further action should conditions worsen.
